I am looking for a roommate for nights November 3-7, check out November 8 in the Hyatt Regency Miami. Non-smoker. I am very low-key, will likely just want some time on my own with my Kindle or my laptop to assimilate the day. I don't particularly like having TV going on in the background, and I tend to knock out early-ish (8-9 pm) so I won't be coming in late. If interested, please reply privately to joanna.celeste@gmail.com
I am looking for a roommate, preferably in the conference hotel. Planning on arriving on the Wednesday and leaving on Sunday. I am a non-smoker. I also am not real keen on the TV going and prefer to chill in quiet (computer) for a bit before going to bed. gertoeng@jill-sommer.com
Hi Jill, I would be interested in sharing a room with you. I just reserved one with two beds at the conference hotel for Wednesday through Sunday. Due to a hectic summer, I'm a little late on this, so I'm hoping someone out there is still looking too. I'm looking for a roommate (or two) to share a room at the alternate hotel from check in on the 3rd (Tuesday) to check out on the 8th (Sunday). I'm generally pretty quiet, very friendly. I do smoke, but strictly outdoor only so nothing smells. I'm probably going to be out most of the time as I like to take the most of every opportunity, but I'm also willing to introduce people if you're new to / unsure about the conference scene.
Alternatively, I'm looking to join a group of people at the Conference hotel (Hyatt) for the same dates, or as many as possible (at least Friday and Saturday nights, more are ok too), as I'm presenting on Saturday afternoon.
I'd be willing to pay for half the room if the room was being split three ways (obviously if it's just me and one other, I'd pay half). Please let me know as soon as you are able. My email is abryant@tamlyntranslations.com and Skype: abryant.tt
Hi ABryant - I am looking to share a room with one or more ladies, and I don't mind sleeping on the floor or a couch at all. I will be arriving Tuesday as well, and hope to leave Saturday evening but may have to stay another night. Let's see if we can arrange to room, alright?

We are both a mix of quiet and friendly and plan to be very active at the conference. We are also willing to take over someone's reservation, should they need to cancel it, or stay with someone even if they are leaving on Saturday, as we could likely arrange with the hotel to stay an extra night. If interested, please contact me: jacobyks@gmail.com

Hi Teresita, I was just posting here to say that I had found a room with someone so I am not looking for a roommate. I was only looking for a room for myself. Sorry for the confusion. I was only saying here that I needed a room for Nov. 3, which I still need.
Hello fellow ATA56ers - I tried to book at the Hyatt but was too late. But I found lodging at the River Park Hotel Suites at 100 SE 4th St right around the corner.Mixed reviews, but cheaper and only a two-minute walk away. Not as elegant, but appears to be clean and habitable. Check it out. All the best!

ReplyDeleteHi, I'm looking for a roommate (I have not booked a room yet), checking in on Wed, checking out on Sun. I live in NY, I'm a English → Portuguese translator, quiet, I do enjoy some TV, but not crazy into watching it. I do plan on going out to attend some evening events, but still want to get back before 11pm/12am (the latest) to be able to rest for the following day. Please contact me at: yedda@sugarloaftranslations.com
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!

ReplyDeleteHi all yes unfortunately the Hyatt is full! I've never seen this happen with any prior conference. What a shame. If I can't find accommodation I will have to cancel but I will try this first. I am a non-smoker, night owl looking for Nov 4. - Nov. 7 (leaving Nov. 8). I am friendly but relatively quiet, LGBTQ-friendly (ally). I do not watch TV at night but can tolerate some as I listen to podcasts. Also willing to take over a reservation from someone else. Feel free to contact me here or at sonya@acmetranslations.com or whatsapp (Sonya Gardner Gerisch) or Skype (sonya.gerisch). Good luck everyone!
ReplyDeleteCorrection, I need a room starting Nov. 3 actually since I have signed up for the Trados class Nov. 4. I might be able to drop it if necessary. I also forgot to mention that I do need a bed to sleep in for medical reasons -- cannot sleep on floor or rollaway bed. Thank you!!

Hi Teresita,
DeleteI was just posting here to say that I had found a room with someone so I am not looking for a roommate. I was only looking for a room for myself. Sorry for the confusion. I was only saying here that I needed a room for Nov. 3, which I still need.
Not a problem, all set now. Thanks and see at the conference.
DeleteCheers
Hello fellow ATA56ers - I tried to book at the Hyatt but was too late. But I found lodging at the River Park Hotel Suites at 100 SE 4th St right around the corner.Mixed reviews, but cheaper and only a two-minute walk away. Not as elegant, but appears to be clean and habitable. Check it out. All the best!
ReplyDeleteHello Denyse, Thank you very much for sharing that. this is very kind of you. Actually, I need to book the night from 7th to 8th and certainly will look into that hotel.

ReplyDeleteHi, I just wanted to follow up Birgit's comments and say that I have roomed with her at two prior ATA conferences. She is very easy-going and pleasant as a roommate so I would not hesitate to share with her again if I had not previously committed to room with someone else.
DeleteThanks, Sonya. I booked a room in the Marriott next door in the meantime, so please disregard my message above.
